The indictment issued by the US Department of Justice Friday night is based on the fact that Bannon He refused to testify in the committee who investigates the congressional storm on January 6.
The panel, made up of Republicans and Democrats, believes Bannon was instructed by his former boss, Donald Trump, not to testify in the case.
Bannon is charged with one count of refusing to testify, and one count of refusing to comply with the commission’s subpoena. Each indictment carries a minimum sentence of 30 days and one year in prison.
Chief Strategist pardoned
In 2016, Bannon became the campaign leader for Donald Trump. After Trump won the election, he secured a special position as chief strategist and permanent member of the US National Security Council, which was removed again in 2017.
In 2018, Bannon and Belgian right-wing politician Michael Modricamin launched the movement group, with the goal of uniting right-wing forces in Europe.
In 2020, Bannon was accused of embezzling money from the We’re Building the Wall fundraiser. The trial was originally scheduled to begin in May 2021, but President Donald Trump pardoned Bannon on his last day in office.

The chair of the intrusion committee, Democrat Benny Thompson, said it was important to set an example for other witnesses in the case. Bannon says he is willing to be a martyr for Trump.
