Starlink antennas observed at Tesla charging stations – Digi.no

Electric vehicle maker Tesla, in its Supercharger network, aims to make charging sessions shorter, but it’s not uncommon for Tesla owners to spend more than 30 minutes at stations.

Tesla has built in-car apps to keep owners entertained while the car is charging, including Tesla Theater, which includes Netflix, Youtube, Twitch and other streaming apps, and Tesla Arcade, which includes several video games.

Owners with excellent connectivity can use these features with Tesla’s LTE mobile connection. However, the company recently shortened the trial period for the premium connection, forcing more owners to decide to pay more or forgo features. Those who do not want to continue using these features when their vehicle is connected to Wi-Fi.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has stated that they will be distributing Wi-Fi connectivity at the stations. According to Musk, who is also the CEO of SpaceX Electrek’s website He suggested using Starlink via satellite internet from SpaceX to provide internet on Supercharger stations.

It is not yet clear how many of these devices are or if they are available for use, but the distribution includes at least Florida.

Tesla has not yet commented on the rollout, according to the site.

1000 satellites

SpaceX recently expanded its Starlink network, which currently consists of more than 1,000 satellites. Starlink now has over 100,000 users.

Tesla also recently announced that its Supercharger network has reached more than 30,000 superchargers at more than 3,100 stations.
