Pioneering Dutch cyclist Amy Peters, 30, was put in an artificial coma after undergoing surgery as a result of the ugly coup in Spain on Thursday.

The 30-year-old flipped during a training trip in Calpe, Spain and underwent surgery in Alicante on the same day. It’s not clear how common Peters’ injuries are.
