Both Frp and MDG have submitted proposals to Parliament to lift the national ban on drinking. Liberals have called for the same, while conservatives have supported Prohibition.

It was announced that the FRP will on Wednesday submit a proposal to Parliament to lift the national liquor ban with immediate effect. The party hopes to secure a parliamentary majority vote on the motion on the same day.
FRP will initially remove the bar for restaurants, not bars and discos.
On Tuesday, the Green Party (MDG) submitted a proposal to Parliament to lift the national ban on alcoholic beverages, the party informed in an email to Dagbladet.
– The Millennium Development Goals asked before Christmas to replace a complete ban on alcoholic beverages with local, flexible solutions, and now the industry is warning that many companies may be on the verge of bankruptcy. Therefore, today the Millennium Development Goals submitted a proposal to Parliament to lift the national ban on alcoholic beverages. I am glad that more and more parties are now joining this, says Rasmus Hansson, member of the Norwegian Parliament’s Business Committee for the Millennium Development Goals.
The Liberal Party has also spoken out in favor of repealing the ban on drinking, while SV believes the government’s justification for this ban is too weak and should be reconsidered.
For her part, Conservative Party leader Erna Solberg has made it clear that she is in favor of stopping the pub.
