Volodymyr Zelensky: – I will never feel a victory

Volodymyr Zelensky: – I will never feel a victory

– I think no one can live without a sense of humor. If you were to take seriously what Russian politicians and Lukashenko say every day, you might go and hang yourself on the spot.

He is a frank and personal boss in an interview with the American magazine Atlantic Ocean Just before the Easter holiday.

The newspaper wrote that although he managed to capture the world’s attention for more than fifty days of war, Volodymyr Zelensky is also just “a middle-aged man with backaches with a good dose of humour.”

And Zelensky, who achieved great success in the TV comedy “The Servant of the People”, in which he played the role of a teacher who was unexpectedly elected president, believes that this is exactly what Putin fears:

Humor is a powerful weapon that everyone can easily access. The boss says it makes it easy to get a message across to people, which is kind of a shortcut.

She talked about her daughter

But the interview also takes a more serious turn.

Although Zelensky admits that Ukraine has shown tremendous resilience in the face of the Russians, he believes they are far from winning.

You will never feel victory for those who have lost their children, relatives, spouses, or parents, as he says and continues:

They will not feel that we have won, even if the country is liberated.

Zelensky also recalls the many atrocities he believes Russia is responsible for: Women who have been rapedOld people who starved to death in their homes and children who suffered from frostbite from hiding in cold basements.

My daughter is now about 18 years old. I don’t want to imagine it, but if something had happened to her, she wouldn’t have settled with just letting the soldiers get away, says the chief and continues:

– I looked for them and found them, and only then did I win.

When the journalist asked him what he would do next, Zelensky hesitated before finally answering:

– We are part of a civilized society, so you have to be calm and let the law decide.

Church criticism

Zelensky himself comes from the industrial city of Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine, and has a law degree. In 2018, he started his own party, which was named after the TV series “People Servant”.

The next year’s biggest election winner is often explained by a wave of popular discontent with the political elite. In the interview with The Atlantic, Zelensky also took a stand against the religious leaders in Russia who sided with Putin in the war.

– I cannot understand that a Christian country like Russia, which has the largest Orthodox population in the world, will be killed on Easter, he says.

He points out that there are still many Ukrainians who have to spend Easter in bomb cellars. He believes that others will not even survive Easter.

– This is not “Christian behaviour”. I can’t understand it. At Easter, they will kill and be killed, says Zelensky.
