Bård and Vegard Ylvisåker: – New job

VGTV stated in a press release on Friday:

We think it’s been great to catch up on all that VGTV has to offer in recent years, and when they got in touch with him we couldn’t turn it down. It’s a place where there is a short path from idea to production which is very inspiring to work with. We’re really looking forward to getting started in earnest, Bård Ylvisåker says in the press release.

This will be fine, VGTV Program Director Martin Jøndahl stated in the press release.

– Now we have the opportunity to work with two of the most fun and intelligent people in the TV industry.

The Elvis brothers have for many years worked on Norway TV humor, among other things through the programs “Tonight with Ylvis”, “Ylvis meets the wall” and “Ylvis on the Island with Calle and Magnus”. They also participated in the “King’s Orders” program.

Complete creative freedom

VGTV holds the cards near their boxes on what the duo will be making at VGTV, but Martin Jondal says the brothers have almost got their hands on it.

– We will not teach Ylvis the TV industry. They are professionals and have, to put it mildly, a track record of accomplishment. At VGTV, they get complete creative freedom, but they have zero chance of winning the Golden Road, says Gundal.

Recently, VG owner Schibsted has secured several well-known profiles for his shows and podcasts. Among others, Jan Thomas, Tori and Steinar Sagen along with Bjarte Tjøstheim have podcasts on the Podimo service,

Many of the products the Elvis brothers made for the Discovery also garnered a great deal of interest abroad. The most famous of them is undoubtedly the song “The Fox”, which the brothers released in 2013 on the “Tonight with Yelvis” program.

The song aroused tremendous interest, and the brothers, among other things, appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres TV show and “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.” So far, the song’s music video has received more than 1 billion streams on Youtube.

Hanne McBride, Director of Communications at Discovery, wrote the following in an SMS to Dagbladet:

– We have had the Ylvis brothers on our channels for many years and with many great projects. It was so much fun! It’s been a while since our collaboration ended, and we wish them all the best at VGTV, McBride told Dagbladet.
