We haven’t lost hope

The online newspaper had access to Vålerenga Football’s annual accounts for 2021. However, it appears that not everything has been added to the account.

to me VG The Oslo club will receive NOK 10.5 million as a result of a 10 per cent resale clause.

However, as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, NOK 2.6 million may have lost to the capital club in connection with the transfer.

“The club is indirectly exposed to the sanctions now imposed on Russia in that it has a claim to a share of Heerenveen’s claim for compensation for the sale of a player to CSKA Moscow. The Board of Directors has chosen to load the accounts for 2021 with a loss allowance for this matter of approximately NOK 2.6 million”, mentioned in the annual accounts.

Vålerenga’s general manager, Erik Espeseth, says the following to Nettavisen about the situation:

We certainly have not lost hope of getting this money, but given the great uncertainty associated with the war in Ukraine, we chose to include this as a loss.
