Jarl Bernhoft becomes the new mentor of ‘The Voice’

Many may have been excited about who will take on the role of the new mentor on the popular music show ‘The Voice’, after it was recently announced that Matoma ends up as a mentor in the program.

Now TV 2 could reveal that it is Norwegian actress Jarl Bernhoft who enters the role of the new mentor, for what will be the eighth consecutive season.

Tear share will not be filled

Bernhoft has a long career behind him as a soul artist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and lyricist.

The big breakthrough as a solo artist came when the YouTube phenomenon ended with the song “Cmon talk” performing on the American talk show “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2011.

The last we saw of the musician was when he astounded viewers with his true interpretations every time I met him earlier this year.

He was happy: Bernhoft was a part of every time we met Stig Brenner, Maj Britt Andersen, TIX, Myra, Arif, Anna of the North and Øystein Greni. Photo: Vegard Breie/TV 2

Now the rivet dweller with a distinctive voice is ready to share his art as a mentor.

– I’m really excited! An artist’s life offers plenty of opportunities for very self-absorption, so it would be a good idea to turn your eyes out and work others forward, he says in a press release.

He says there will be a huge void after Tom Stræte Lagergren, aka Matoma, and believes there is something special that he won’t be able to manage and replace.

– I may not be able to fill his tear quota, but I have to find my shoes, he says.

The 46-year-old forms a quartet that also consists of Espen Linde, Ina Woldsen and Youssef Wolde-Maryam when “The Voice” recordings begin this fall.

– Signature star!

Bernhoft has been honored with several awards during his career, such as two Spellemann Awards, and in 2014 he was nominated for a Grammy Award.

TV 2 Editor Kathryn Haldorsen is delighted to have Bernhoft on The Voice team.

– Jarl Bernhoft is a superstar who signs with us! I’m incredibly pleased that the mentor quartet for the upcoming season of “The Voice” is now complete with four of Norway’s greatest entertainers, she says, and believes that it will be a fantastic contribution to the young talents on the show.

With his long experience as an artist, Garley has an incredible amount to contribute to great talents willing to try their hand at “The Voice,” Halldorsen says in a press release.

When asked what the new mentor would look for in the search for new talent, he answered the following:

– I’ll go for a kick first. Bernhoft tells TV 2 I’m skeptical in many respects, but when I lit a flare my chair would flip very quickly.

The new season of The Voice will be broadcast on TV 2 in 2023.
