Scandic Spectrum: Scandic’s largest hotel with spa and Michelin chef

Hotel: Scandic Spectrum is the 30th Scandic hotel in Denmark, offering modern facilities with a Nordic feel. Here it is possible to enjoy culinary experiences in the two restaurants of the hotel, and not least you can take advantage of a first-class spa.

As the name suggests, Scandic Spectrum offers a wide range of experiences. Our vision is to be a dynamic and attractive hotel inside and out. I am very proud to open this hotel with 130 of my colleagues. We look forward to welcoming guests and locals to stay, use the spa area, enjoy a handcrafted cocktail on the rooftop terrace or meet friends for a meal,” Hotel Manager Kirsten Glente Grindsted said in a press release.

Inspired by the Scandinavian lifestyle

Scandic Spectrum was designed by Dissing + Weitling, while Space Copenhagen was responsible for the interior design. It is inspired by the Scandinavian lifestyle, and makes reference to both nature and the nearby historic industrial port. It is expressed in material choices such as glass, concrete and steel, while Nordic nature is repeated in the use of stone, wood and an overall gradient color palette. This will be especially visible, for example, on the roof terrace and in the two idyllic courtyards on the ground floor.

Scandic Spectrum aims to offer a new kind of hotel experience, where guests can enjoy a good night’s sleep with a number of exciting experiences. Therefore, the spa and events section is also open to the public. Scandic Spectrum will host events, dinners, concerts, and quiz nights open to resident guests and city residents.

– As the largest hotel operator in the North region, and based on many years of experience in hotel management, we see great potential in this new and different hotel. It offers a wide range of experiences, no matter if you are on a weekend trip in Copenhagen, looking for unique conference rooms or want to enjoy a spa or other types of events, says Scandic Denmark CEO Soren Ferber.

Spa with feel of jungle, mountains and fjord

The spa section is inspired by the forests of the north, fjords and mountains. Here guests can take advantage of the 25-meter swimming pool, sauna and Rasul thermal mud therapy, and choose from a large menu of spa treatments with natural and sustainable products.

The hotel also has nine meeting rooms on the top floor, many of which have access to the rooftop terrace, and four event spaces for more than 300 people.

Sustainability is an integral part of Scandic Spectrum’s operations, and the hotel has been certified in line with the new Nordic Ecolabel requirements, which will help reduce its climate footprint even further. In practical terms, this means that Scandic Spectrum will focus on reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, increasing the use of eco-label cleaning products, offering more environmentally friendly food and reducing food waste. Sustainability also plays an important role in the hotel’s two restaurants, Ansvar and Nordbo, which base their offering on high-quality organic ingredients from local suppliers.

Sustainability has been important to Scandic from the start, and as the largest hotel chain in the Nordic region, we also have a responsibility to continue to develop and lead by example as a good example for the entire industry. I’m proud that this is built into all parts of Scandic Spectrum, especially in restaurants, where we see we can be part of the solution without compromising on quality, says Ferber.

At the hotel’s top floor Ansvar – Greenery Lab, Chef Martin Sørensen has created a growth-based dining experience based on organic, local ingredients and alternative proteins. The menu includes vegetables and herbs from the restaurant’s city garden, and the selection of drinks is organic. Sørensen previously worked at Michelin-starred restaurants such as Noma in Copenhagen and Amador in Germany.

The second and more formal restaurant, Nordbo, is located on the ground floor and is inspired by the Nordic lifestyle. It serves oysters, pizza, pasta made primarily from local ingredients, and its own charcuterie.
