Bømlo – VG Boy (12) dies in boat accident

A twelve-year-old boy died in a boat accident outside Kråkeneset in the municipality of Bømlo in Westland on Thursday afternoon.

At 16.18 on Thursday, a report was received of a large boat accident in Bømlo municipality just outside Kråkeneset where a small boat collided with a stock (sea mark). A twelve-year-old boy was carried ashore from the sea by another boat.

Major resources were dispatched to the scene and it was soon clear that there was no one else in the lake. The man was taken to shore, where paramedics performed CPR on the boy.

– Unfortunately, this did not lead and the boy was pronounced dead at 5.20 pm, the police write in a press release.

Relatives are notified, family and other witnesses/incidents are followed up by the municipality’s crisis team. The boy belongs to the area.

The police rushed to the spot and are conducting an investigation to clarify the course of the incident.

The mayor of Bømlo municipality, Sammy Olsen, tells VG that this is a very sad incident.

– It’s a small community, and an accident like this affects the whole environment, says Olson.

Kråkeneset is located between Myntevika and Hellevika on Sakseid, an hour north of Haugesund.
