Carlsen’s shock exit – World Cup final loss after losing matches – NRK Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

Chess seems so daunting that Fischer made the kind of mistakes he wouldn’t have otherwise made, Henrik Carlsen tells NRK.

Son Magnus won his group, but ran into a lot of trouble on the way. Also in the semi-finals on Saturday, the road got progressively bumpy – and ended with a brutal exit.

In the second match, he was better than his opponent, Jan Nepomengashchege, but missed the advantage and then went on a rampage that ultimately ended in defeat.

It adds to the chain of Carlsen’s mistakes in Iceland.

He fouled twice previously in Reykjavik – including with a penalty Expert described Torstein Bae as “the worst in ten years”..

Father Henrik Carlsen sees a tired trend in chess.

– Against Wesley So three years ago and twice here he counted a set and made the moves in the wrong order. It is extremely rare for Magnus. Henrik Carlsen says he did it twice and it had consequences.

Carlsen at his game: – Pathetically bad

The world number one was relegated after losing the semi-finals. The top candidate won the first match, but then suffered three consecutive defeats against Nepomnyasheg.

Thus, the dream of a new world title of chess set was shattered.

Instead of playing the final against Hikaru Nakamura, he has to play in the Bronze Final against Nuderbek Abdul Satrov on Sunday night.

The Norwegian points out after the loss that two different styles met on the board in the semi-finals.

He plays quickly and tactically. It is very frustrating. “Obviously I’m the best in four out of four games – but I can’t do more than that,” says Carlsen.

I don’t have the time or the shape to play the chess I want to play. It’s also one of the reasons I played tournaments with a longer reversal time in Fisher’s chess and a bit shorter in regular chess.

Nebo liked it very much

It was only natural that the cheerful Russian would meet NRK after the semi-finals.

– This is probably the first day I’m not ashamed of my game, so it’s a step in the right direction. Nebo tells NRK that the first part was very up and down.

– It was important for me to fight back after the first match, and winning three in a row was great.

Carlsen describes the loss as “Very frustrating.” Obviously, he should have done much better against the Russians.

You saw how he played today and how he played in the opening. There is a player who has huge holes in his game, but there are also some great strengths that he has been able to exploit. It’s something I usually have to excel at, and so it’s frustrating not to come close to anything I can do today. Then better get on… Yes. Try to sharpen things up tomorrow, says Carlsen, there’s definitely something to play for.

Nakamura can win his first world title

While the Lommedalen star now has to play for the bronze, Hikaru Nakamura could win his first world title if he beats Jan Nepomnjashchij.

The American veteran showed strength and did not give 18-year-old Abdul Satrov any chances in the semi-finals.

Abdul Satrov, like Nakamura, was undefeated during the main match.

– I just try to play chess and have fun. I don’t care if I become world champion, I got Nakamura ready for the final for NRK.
