Nvidia should be broken with powerful, efficient, and cheaper graphics cards.
AMD wasn’t much tighter than it revealed when it was showing off its next-generation graphics cards just hours before arch-rival Nvidia announced the RTX 40 series.
We now know it’s very powerful, but AMD is fighting back today.
The company, which for some time was a “little brother” in the graphics market, was able to match Nvidia’s traditional “raster-based” gaming performance.
This generation is about a lot efficiencyCEO Lisa Su said from the stage during the announcement. It also promised raw performance and new software solutions before announcing the first two graphics cards in the RX 7000 series:
- Radeon RX 7900 XTX 24 GB Memory
- Radeon RX 7900 XT with 20GB Memory
These are the two most powerful graphics cards, and Both were launched on December 13th.
They will be price bombs
- The top card RX 7900 XTX fetches a suggested price of $1,000.
- The RX 7900 XT, on the other hand, will cost $900.
In doing so, AMD’s prices for its cards are significantly lower than Nvidia, whose first RTX 4090 card costs $1,600, while the RTX 4080 mini card costs $1,200.
Up to 1.7 times higher performance
AMD said the RX 7900 XTX will deliver Up to 1.7 times higher performance of today’s most powerful card, the RX 6950 XT, in raster-based titles.
In games that use ray tracing, we should be able to see up to 1.6 times higher performance.

This makes the cards even better
All cards in the RX 7000 series are based on the new AMD RDNA3 structureThis is where the secret behind high performance and efficiency lies.
The architecture is produced using 5 and 6 nm technology respectively, the graphics core itself takes advantage of the latest manufacturing processes for optimum efficiency and performance.
54% higher performance per watt
AMD’s new manufacturing process allows its graphics chips to have 165% more transistors without making the chip any bigger. Combined with other improvements in the RDNA3 architecture, this provides the new cards 54% higher performance per watt Compared to the RX 6000 series, according to AMD.
Draws less power from Nvidia
Here, AMD is also sending the evening’s first blow in the direction of Nvidia, saying that their two new cards It requires less power than the best Nvidia cards. The Radeon RX 7900 XTX will require up to 355 watts, while the Radeon RX 7900 XT will use up to 335 watts. They also use existing power sockets so they don’t need an adapter to work with the power sources most people have. The Nvidia card uses a new power connector that has been the subject of much controversy since its launch.
Cards must occupy a PCI 2.5 slot, and therefore should fit in most packages. Third-party models can of course be larger.
Double the scaling speed
AMD announces an upgraded version of its DLSS competitor, upgrade technology FSR3 with “Liquid Motion Tires”. FSR3 will offer up to twice the performance over new cards like the FSR2, which in turn delivers much better image quality compared to the first version of the upgrade technology again. The company hasn’t said if the FSR3 as a whole will be exclusive to the RX 7000 series, or just parts of it.
The FSR3 won’t be fully ready for launch in December, but it will launch before the summer.
In addition, AMD announced an addition to its software called AMD Hypr-RX. With one click, the function should give you higher image flow (at the expense of image quality) and much lower delay when you play. This appears to be, in part, AMD’s answer to Nvidia’s Reflex technology, which provides lower lag in a number of games. This is undoubtedly welcome news for anyone who plays fast-paced FPS games, where milliseconds should be on your side to succeed.
The job will be launched before the summer of next year.
It can display much higher image flow than Nvidia cards
They also sent a second blow in the direction of Nvidia when they proudly announced that their card naturally supported DisplayPort 2.1 port. This allows their cards to display up to 900 fps in 1440p, 480 fps in 4K, and 165 fps in 8K. The Nvidia card, which uses the legacy DisplayPort 1.4 standard, is in turn limited to 120fps display in 4K, or perhaps 240fps with signal compression. I think the AMD guy on stage had a good smile when he announced this.
This undoubtedly makes AMD’s upcoming cards more suitable for esports gamers, or anyone who wants a very high FPS when competing in relatively light-powered games which also makes this image streaming possible with the new cards.
The cards also get a new media engine, with AV1 codec support. This provides much higher video quality compared to the current x264 codec when recording game sessions, and allows you to stream them without increasing the file size.
There was also a part that wasn’t mentioned during the AMD announcement.
Like how powerful the new cards are compared to Nvidia’s top two cards, or how much better raytracing itself has become.
This will of course be something we will check when we get the cards to test with us near launch.
