Victor Hovland won in the Bahamas and Hovland won after a nervous drama

Victor Hovland defended last year’s victory in the World Champion Challenge on Sunday. Only Tiger Woods, who did the same thing in 2007, has done the same thing before.

– He’s totally “badass.” I’m glad he hasn’t played in the last two years. It’s a great tournament with a lot of people and a great atmosphere. Winning the championship is very special, says Viktor Hovland of the achievement in the interview presented to Eurosport Norway.

On the final hole, however, it was very exciting, two bouts back from the Norwegian. The 25-year-old still held on and won by two strokes ahead of Scotty Scheffler.

– It was nerve-wracking, Hovland said about the end of the same channel.

Woods himself hosts the tournament and is considered one of the world’s greatest golfers of all time. For Hovland, the win is the seventh major title of his career.

As the winner, Hovland will receive $1 million, which is approximately NOK 9.8 million.

The top 20 players are out there, so you have to give your best, and winning is a lot of fun, says Hovland.

Ten birdies on Saturday ensured Hovland led the world champion’s challenge going into the final round, by three shots over Scotty Scheffler.

Scheffler made his best start with two birdies and one eagle in the first six holes on Sunday, but suffered a bogey and double bogey in the seventh and eight holes.

Hovland got his first bogey on the 13th hole, but with six birdies and the rest kept the American at bay.

The Hero World Challenge is not defined as an unofficial PGA Championship, but is included in the Hovland Tour. It does not provide FedEx Cup Points or “Official Money”.

When Hovland won the Woods Invitational tournament a year ago, Scheffler also finished second.
