Brakarnes, Stromso | Lifeless person rescued from Thirmamanselva

Drama: On Saturday night, a full alarm was sounded when a person was spotted floating in Tramanselvam. All emergency services are out, Trond Egil Groth, operations manager in the Søreast police district, told Drammens Tidende at 00:54.

At the same time, Groth can confirm that the person, a man, was taken by the river at the same time.

Minutes later, the Sørøst Police District announced on Twitter that healthcare workers provided life-saving medical care to the man.

– The circumstances surrounding the incident are not clear to the police. We are currently investigating the matter. No one else was found in the river, police wrote on Twitter shortly before 01:00.

At 00:37 the emergency services were notified about the incident and moved away. According to Groth, more evidence was on the way when Tramens Dente asked at 00.54 if a helicopter had been used in the search.

Must have witnessed the incident

At 01.40, Groth says the message about the person in the water must have come in shortly after the person fell.

– Have you spoken to witnesses of the incident?

– We spoke to witnesses at the scene, yes. There were quite a few people around the river at the time, so we have an overview. I can say nothing about what the witnesses have now explained to Groth Drummen’s Detente.

The operations manager has nothing new to say about the person rescued from the water.

– He was taken to Traman Hospital. His condition is not known, but he is being treated there. A search helicopter lands to assist.

Main hypothesis

Drammens Tidende talks to Groth again at 06:30. He had no update on the condition of the man at that time.

So far, no crime is suspected, so no arrests have been made.

– Groth says that our main hypothesis is that it was an accident.

At 08.15 Lena Scotland, who works in the communications department at Vestre Viken, says she has no information on the man’s condition – but will get back to her as soon as there is a new update from the hospital.

Case updated.
