The Norwegian riders have previously won five stages of the Vuelta, and Thor Hushofd stands by three stages. He wore the red shirt for three days in 2006.
Odd Christian Eiking now leads the summary, 58 seconds ahead of Guillaume Martin and just 2.17 minutes ahead of Primoz Roglic.
