The headline-grabbing statement came during Christmas dinner on Tuesday night. There, Berlusconi spoke to sponsors and a select group of players.
In the speech, the former Italian prime minister joked that he wanted to give the players “extra motivation” before the second half of the Italian football season. It starts on January 4th.
Monza will face Juventus in both the league and the cup in the new year, in addition to big matches awaiting both Inter Milan and Berlusconi, formerly Milan club.

Welcoming laughter
The speech was met with laughter and was later posted on social media.
The Monza administration refused to comment on Berlusconi’s comments to AFP.
The 86-year-old former prime minister was recently elected as a senator in the Italian parliament. Supports the government of Georgia Meloni.
