Avinor reports a good number of delays at Oslo Airport (OSL) on Thursday afternoon and evening.
– Press officer Øystein Løwer to Dagbladet says that a lot of snow has fallen this afternoon and evening, and measures have been started to safely land planes, such as plowing the runway and “de-icing” planes.
According to Avinors Overview is the lion’s share of the one-hour delay.
Delays were also reported at other airports in Norway, such as Flesland in Bergen.
There are also many delays in Værnes.
– Snow in Gardermoen causes flights to take off late, which then arrive behind schedule at other airports, so these delays spread across the country, Løwer says.
However, press watchdog points out that this applies to delays, not systems.
– It is important for us to clarify that passengers must still be met at the airport unless other information is provided. “We are now working to get people out safely and get everyone home for Christmas,” he says.
The day before Christmas Eve is one of the busiest travel days of the year. According to Avinor’s estimate, 74,635 passengers will travel in Gardermoen today.
