This group, which is a group of parish councilors elected from all the parish councils in the municipalities of Jiffnaker, Hall and Ringreke, will do so. They represent 18 churches and chapels.

Now the course and the way have been set in a new round of elections and the hope is – new people who can take the reins in the parish councils. Or take part in a new four-year period to decide what our local churches should spend their time and energy on.

Therefore, this person desires to have – a good council, a good pastoral council, of all the churches in Ringerike Prosti, and it is desirable that you join for four years.

A large, beautiful group of parish councilors gathered for a briefing on this year’s church election.

Elections that take place at the same time as the municipal and county council elections in September. But many, many things need to happen early on.

Not least the nomination of people who want to be on the electoral lists and be part of the decision-making process for the next four years, until 2027.

Visitation from the diocese of Tønsberg

Senior Councilor Knut Eduard Larsen, responsible for diocesan development and electoral advice along with Henrik Guii-Larsen, youth liaison and communications officer, both from the Diocese of Tunsberg, found their way to Hønefoss for inspiration and good information.

How local parish councils will manage the upcoming elections, with important dates that need to be followed to the letter for everything to run smoothly until polling stations open, both digitally and physically.

What is good about the parish council?

Henrik from the Diocese of Tunsberg did a simple survey to find out what is good about being on a parish council?

The cloud of words that spread across the screen in the church gave the primary focus to the answers that followed;

Inspirational, social, educational, purposeful, meet many new cool people.

Positive words from local elected officials.

– What is required of those who will take part in the work of the Church?

First of all, the answer is, – members of the parish council want diversity in age, preferably prospective members of 18 years of age or older who wish to do good for the church, congregation and others.

There must be at least 40% of women and 20% of young people under the age of 30.

So there is room for you and yours.

Contact someone who is already on the parish council in your parish, or contact the church administration located at Hønefoss Church. Or maybe the priest you know from your church.

Tell them you would like to join.

Many people wonder if the threshold is high to enter the church.

But it may never have been less than now, for many years.

The Church has opened up and wants to share space and humanity with everyone.

There is a small condition, you must be a member of the Church of Norway, if you are going to take part in the work of the parish council.
