Granrud pressured Slovenia
Before the last group, Slovenia led, down 10.6 points to Norway and 16 points to Austria.
Thus Granrod had to take a huge jump, while Anze Lanisek had to fail his jump.
The Norwegian delivered the goods and put a little pressure on the Slovenian.
Unfortunately for Norway, Lanisek was able to handle the pressure and managed to unleash gold-winning joy on home soil.
Forfang has delivered the goods
Furfang, who delivered a huge jump in the first round, had an even better jump in the second round and landed at 139.5 metres.
– Nobody can take my jump away from me now, Furfang told NRK after his second jump.
With this jump, he put Norway back in the lead, 7.1 points ahead of Austria in second place.
In the second set, both Austria and Slovenia made good jumps and thus put pressure on Sundal.
However, he didn’t look too impressed and landed at a height of 133.5 metres.
“It’s very, very good for the 22-year-old in his first World Series,” Nielsen commented.
Before the final two groups, Slovenia advanced 0.2 points to Norway and 2.3 points to Austria.
In Group C, Slovenia moved away from Norway and Austria, leading by 10.5 points from Norway in second place.
Norway with the beginning of the dream
Forfang ensured that Norway progressed past Group A in the team competition.
– This is one of the best things I’ve seen Johan Furfang do, said Remen Evensen.
– The international level of show jumping has never been better, so nice that I found this here, Furfang told NRK when he heard what Evensen had to say.
The five medal favorites made good jumps in the first round and separated only 6.1 points from Norway, who was in front, and Germany, who finished in fifth place.
– This is going to be a huge competition with five nations that I think will follow each other closely, commented NRK’s Christian Nielsen after Austria finished top in heat one.
In the second group, 22-year-old Christopher Eriksen Sundal jumped 133 meters and ensured Norway finished second, 2.4 points behind leaders Austria.

In Group C, Norway dropped to third place after Lindvik struggled with difficult conditions. Slovenia took the lead, 6.4 points ahead of Austria and 7.7 points ahead of Norway.
In the last group, Slovenian Lanisek jumped 138 meters thus increasing the gap to other countries.
Granerud was not much worse than Lanisek and jumped 136.5 metres.
Slovenia advanced after the first round, with 9.8 points for Norway and 10.6 points for Austria.
