A 33-year-old man from Massachusetts is facing a life sentence after drama during a flight from Los Angeles to Boston.

He writes that he is accused of trying to prevent the crew members from doing their job with the help of a dangerous weapon CBS and referring to the charge brought by the Massachusetts Attorney General.

It was last Sunday when the man was confronted by crew members when he tampered with an emergency exit.

The crew members immediately informed the captain that he had to land the plane as quickly as possible because they viewed the man as a threat.

The man responded by stabbing one of the crew members three times in the throat with a broken metal spoon.

Other passengers intervened, and he was taken into custody along with the other crew members. The man was arrested as soon as the plane managed to land at Boston Airport.

The 33-year-old explained that he pulled the tip of a spoon into the toilet before trying to open the door to jump out of the plane.

He has made it clear that he knew he would die if he jumped, and also said that he thought a crew member would kill him.

United Airlines thanks the crew and passengers who intervened, and says it has zero tolerance for violence of any kind on its flights.
