Race in Holmenkollen on Friday canceled – moved to Saturday – NRK Sport – sports news, results and broadcast schedule

– It was really nonsense. I’m starting to really look forward to some fog and action, Ingrid Tandrivold tells NRK after she was told Friday’s race in Holmenkollen had been cancelled.

The race was supposed to start at 15.20, but first it was postponed by 30 minutes. Just before the women finished filming, the message came from the jury: The race has been canceled and moved to Saturday.

– Because none of the athletes saw anything, so it got worse. Unfortunately we had to cancel. It’s sad, but fairer, technical delegate Hans-Peter Olsen tells NRK and continues:

– There was more and more negativity on the part of the athletes, so we chose to cancel, says Olsen.

Tandrivold understands the decision and maintains that it was a tough deposit.

– It was hard, but it was also fun. We could see now that we had shot pretty well, but it was impossible to see through the scope. We were actually able to do it very well, which is kind of cool, because you only shoot intuition and you have to forget all about work missions and shoot what you think is black. Maybe sharpen yourself a little more, so I think today could have been my day, that is, you say and laugh.

– It might have been a bingo race, says coach Patrick Oberger.

There is no catch start

The race is now scheduled to start at 15:00 on Saturday. This meant that the start of the chase, which was supposed to take place on Saturday, was completely cancelled. The weather is also expected to be better at the weekend.

– For my part, the throw-in was very good. There were 10 hits, so that’s typical. Now there will probably be great weather tomorrow, and then it will be difficult to do biathlon again. It’s a complex sport and there are many weird things about the sport, says Tandrifold, chuckles.

Before the annulment was a reality, Lund responded to the jury’s assessment of the postponement.

– I think they could have done the sprint as it was when the throw-in was about to start. It was fairly light, and conditions were worse for the men in the sprint at Oberhof. Lunde believes that light only gets worse with time, so delaying further becomes difficult.

When it became clear that the race would be cancelled, the expert understood the decision.

– It is a perfectly correct decision by the jury to overturn it. Now he says it’s very close to here.

Sinof-Solmdal also agreed.

Sinof Solmdal shakes her head at the Swedes' decision.

Against postponement: NRK’s biathlon expert Synnøve Solemdal.

– The way it looks now, I understand it well. When you can’t see the blinkers when stopped, they simply don’t work. But it’s very hard, especially when you don’t have enough days to complete all the competitions, Solemdal says.

Get off the adrenaline

Instead of running, the Norwegian girls took a training run at the national facility.

– Now there will be a small lap on the road, to get rid of the adrenaline that you have accumulated. Then it’s just a matter of charging until tomorrow. I’m on a competition diet today, so I have my glycogen stores full when I can’t use them now. I’ll only use medium power now, so I have some power left for tomorrow, Tandrivold says.

This weekend, Marte Olsbu Røiseland runs her last race as a professional biathlete. She retires after the season, and will end her career in Holmenkollen. But the enemy must wait, and better weather is expected on Saturday.
