The assassination of a Putin supporter – NRK Urix – foreign documentary news

– The Moscow Ministry of Interior reported, on Saturday morning, that one person was killed in the explosion, and writer Zakhar Prilepin, who was in the car, was injured.

According to the Russian news agency Interfax that he will be transferred to a hospital in Moscow for treatment. The condition was described as “serious”.

Zakhar Prilebin was assassinated in Nizhny Novgorod. The city is located 40 miles east of Moscow.

The driver was killed when the car bomb exploded, Russian broadcaster RIA writes.

Blame the West

A spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry accused Ukraine of carrying out the attack. At the same time, it blamed Western countries.

– Facts come true: Washington and NATO have strengthened another terrorist cell – The regime in Kiev, as Maria Zakharova wrote in Telegram, claims that the US and UK are directly responsible for the attack. No evidence has been provided for this claim.

A person suspected of the assassination has been arrested.

On Saturday evening, the Ukrainian Security Service said it could not confirm or deny its involvement in the attack on Prilepin, according to Reuters.

H claimed responsibility for the attack. They are a resistance group made up of Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars.

They have previously claimed attacks on Russian targets.

It has not been confirmed whether H was actually behind the attack or not.

Renowned author and frontline fighter

47-year-old Prilebin is one of the most famous Russian writers. In 2018, he published the critically acclaimed book “Klosteret”, which has also been translated into Norwegian.

In Russia, Prilepin was distinguished as an ardent supporter of Vladimir Putin and the war in Ukraine.

From 2016 to 2018, he fought on the side of pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine. In January, he signed up to serve in the Russian National Guard to fight again in Ukraine.

Prilepin was the leader of the national conservative party “For Truth”, until it was merged with “Fair Russia” in February 2021. The party supports Putin’s regime.

More attacks

The Prilebin assassination attempt is not the first time Putin supporters have been targeted.

Last August, Russian nationalist Daria Duzhina was killed by a car bomb in Moscow. She was the daughter of Aleksandr Dugin, a right-wing nationalist academic and theoretician.

Russia accused Ukraine of being behind the killings. The Ukrainian authorities refused.
