Canada has become the winningest country in the World Cup finals ever

(Canada – Germany 5-2) Germany managed to reach an extremely rare final in the World Cup finals, but in front of the favourites, they were stopped – Canada is a historic world champion for the 28th time.

But the Germans did not make the Canadians’ path to gold easy.

They hadn’t been there in 70 years, but in their first final since 1953, Germany took the lead in the first period after a goal from John Petrka.

Three minutes later, Sammy Place scored it 1-1 for Canada, but the Germans were going to take the lead again.

Daniel Fischbuch made it 2-1, but once again the lead was short-lived. Four minutes later, Lawson Krause equalized to make it 2-2 to Canada.

In the third period, the game was turned when Bliss scored his second goal of the evening to make it 3-2.

Then it started to look bleak for Germany’s gold in the World Cup finals, and with eight minutes left in the match, hope faded. The Canadiens increased to 4-2 when Tyler Tofoli took advantage of a German defensive error, and with an accurate pull shot made his mark on the scoresheet.

With two minutes left in the game, it was tough: Germany pressed for a goal and took their goalkeeper down to be able to play another man up front. He was penalized and Scott Lawton made it 5-2 by putting the puck into an open goal.

Prior to the tournament, Canada was ranked second in the world, just behind Finland. Germany ranked ninth.

Canada, who knocked out defending champion Finland in the quarter-finals, could once again adorn themselves with the World Cup title. It is the 28th time they have won the championship.
