– I want to feel it again

– I want to feel it again

Diogo Dalot signed his first contract with the club in 2018, but his debut for the club was delayed by a knee injury and a number of other problems that severely affected his first two seasons in England, before helping out on a valuable loan to Milan in 2020/21. He reset his club career. This season, the Portuguese has played a total of 42 matches and helped lift the Carabao Cup in February.

In an interview, Dalot admits what has been the most important thing in his career so far.

“I could give you the simplest answer and say winning trophies is the biggest thing you can do, but I look back and the most important moments for me were probably when I had injuries,” Dalot told the club’s media.

– This is where I learned a lot: when I was out for a long time. Those were the moments for me. Sometimes it feels normal when you’re playing soccer for your head to go anywhere else, except where it needs to be.

– I always tried, with the help of my family, to keep myself on the right track and keep doing my things, and most of all I believe I can play for this club. Then, after a year in Italy, I think it was important for me to show that I had that ability to play for the club and I’m glad I did, but of course it doesn’t stop there.

Dalot added: “I remember when we lifted the trophy, I think I spoke to Raphael Varane or someone else and said I wanted to feel that again, I wanted to be there.”

Full cheer: There was complete jubilation when United lifted the Carabao Cup in February, and this weekend they can lift the trophy again.

We still have a good chance on Saturday, but hopefully in the future we can fight for and win other titles.

– But that feeling when you have the trophy in your hands and you feel it knowing everyone in the house is celebrating – the fans, our families, our friends – that feeling makes you proud, and I think it’s the greatest feeling you can have in football.
