– He says that the water will reach critical levels within five hours.

The Southern Command Center of the Ukrainian Army says the extent of the destruction and the size of the damaged area are still understandable.

Russian state-run media also claims that the dam has been damaged, but this is the result of fighting in the area.

They also wrote that 80 residential areas in the vicinity could be affected. TASS quoted the local mayor, who called the destruction “a serious terrorist act.”

The agency further reports that the area downstream has been bypassed. According to Reuters, both sides owe it to each other to stand behind them.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called an emergency meeting over the alleged shortage, Ukraine’s National Insurance Agency said Tuesday morning.

The information has not been independently verified.

It may have ruined the water supply for many

The dam is located alongside a power plant and dams on the Kakhovka Reservoir, and is 3.2 kilometers long. It contains just over 18 cubic kilometers of water.

If it is true that it was blown up, the water supply of large parts of southern Ukraine could suffer severe damage.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously blamed Russia for planning to blow up the dam, in order to fly over the area downstream.
