Stig Andre Berg, shall we dance?

Stig Andre Berg, shall we dance?

Since 2020, former wrestler Stig Andre Berg (40) has been asked to participate in TV 2’s Shall We Dance.

Only now, three years later, is he among the celebrities who will cringe on the floor in front of an audience. Berg could share with Nettavisen that he felt the “time” to accept it was now – after a long dialogue with the production.

– Now I felt like I had to say yes and throw myself into it, the 40-year-old tells Netavisen.

Career got in the way

Initially, Berg was supposed to appear on the 2020 season of Shall We Dance, but his career got in the way.

In fact, the 40-year-old was supposed to retire after the Olympics that year, but then the Games were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Berge continued in the wrestling ring for another year before finally giving up on his role as a professional actor, once again receiving an offer to participate in a TV2 dance competition in 2021 – but then it just didn’t fit.

In 2022, as it is known, was the “All-Star” season, and Berg was unable to participate due to natural reasons, but 2023 was scheduled to be the year of Berg’s dance.

– It’s been a long process, the 40-year-old points and laughs.

Damn in training

When Netavisen met Berg during this year’s participant launch earlier in August, he could tell that taking part in “Skal vi danse” was a long way out of his comfort zone.

At the same time, he noted that he likes to challenge himself, and when Netavisin spoke with the former wrestler before Saturday’s premiere, he revealed that he enjoys dancing much better than he ever imagined.

He found himself very frustrated when he was struggling.

– I get very angry in training. Really angry off. “On myself, when I can’t get things done,” he says.

– But that’s because I want to make it happen. Because I think dancing is incredibly fun. Don’t tell anyone, but I think it’s really cool that we can dance. I dance all the time, and he laughs.
