Unlike last year, yesterday’s match was not postponed, resulting in relatively empty stands at kick-off.
“The scenes in Marseille are reminiscent of the events leading up to last year’s Champions League final, where French police used pepper spray on Liverpool fans.”
A few days later, UEFA issued an apology.
UEFA said: “No football fan should be put in such a situation and it must never happen again.”
