He praised the 20-year-old after his first start

Jarrell Quansah was born in Warrington and came to Liverpool when he was five years old. We’ve seen him at the age levels, he’s been in the team three times before, and last season he featured on loan at Bristol Rovers – but that was at the third tier of League One.

This summer, the 20-year-old has stepped up, impressing in pre-season. He has jumped Nate Phillips in the queue for the centre-back position – coming on as a substitute in the matches against Newcastle and Aston Villa. His inclusion in Saturday’s match away to Wolves came as a surprise.

Ibrahima Konate has returned to training, but Jurgen Klopp still has enough confidence in the 20-year-old to put him straight into the team.

It was in defense where Virgil van Dijk, Konate and Trent Alexander-Arnold came off. After the match, Klopp expressed his satisfaction with the young defender’s performance.

– He did a good job – very good. It was a good, beautiful, wonderful experience for him. He had previously come on as a substitute in crucial moments of matches – not to kill time or anything like that – but because we needed him, was the manager’s verdict in the post-match press conference.

– Today was good, I must say, keep going.

– Who got the best results?

Liverpool were not entirely composed in the first half, but Joe Gomez and Joel Matip were directly involved in those problems.

The coach believes Quansah got the best out of the first half.

– In a team as disorganized as we were in the first half, it’s definitely impressive to be the one to come out of this game well. We are very happy for him,” says the manager.

– He’s obviously very happy even right now. He’s a good boy.

Quansah collapsed and had to be helped due to a muscle cramp after 80 minutes and was unable to continue. Ibrahima Konate came on and replaced him in the 83rd minute.

Liverpool settled the match in their favor with Robertson’s goal in the 85th minute, then Harvey Elliott turned the ball over to Hugo Bueno one minute before stoppage time.
