Ifeanyi drops Christmas parties in Johanneskirken

Queues often extended far outside the church doors to attend the free concerts held at St. John’s Church. Not this year.

“Bangkok Christmas Parties” has become a term for Christmas-starved Bergens who haven’t had the opportunity – or desire – to pay expensive tickets to a Christmas concert or fun Christmas show.

After the company changed its name, it became Eveny’s Christmas Party.

She has been organizing Christmas parties for 24 years. Last year, Emma Steinbakken, among others, sang Christmas at St. John’s Church. A total of four concerts in two days in mid-December. Everything is free.

This year there will be none.

– This is correct. There will be no Christmas parties organized by Ifeanyi this year. We are thinking about holding some indoor events, but there will not be Christmas parties like you are used to, says Rolf St. Gundersen. He serves as Head of Communications at Eveny.

BT has written several cases in recent months about the power company’s downsizing.

He adds: “We look at all the costs in the company and decided that there will be no Christmas parties this year.”

In the past, names such as Sissel Kyrkjebø, Kari Bremnes, Maria Mena, Bjørn Eidsvåg, Vamp and Herborg Kråkevik have performed.

Collected for Mission City Church

At the BKK and Eviny Christmas parties later, there was also a group that went to the Church City Mission.

Last year, proceeds went directly to BamsHeat – a show for families with young children, single parents and minority families.

– Will Ifeanyi continue to give money to the church mission in the city this year, even if there are no concerts?

– This is one of the things we are discussing now, says St. Gunderson.

– Can Christmas concerts be held at St. John’s Church or is this the end of a long tradition?

– I can’t say anything about it now, but at least there won’t be anything this year.
