Junko Shinba (50) from Japan was left behind when she received the bill for her crab meal at Seafood Paradise restaurant in Singapore in August.
The restaurant demanded S$938 – NOK 7,400 – for the house’s signature dish, which the waiter recommended to her and the rest of the party.
– We were completely speechless when it became clear that a meal for four people costs a lot, the 50-year-old tells the newspaper. Asia One.

According to Shinba, the restaurant should not have revealed the price of 325 Norwegian kroner per 100 grams.
When the meal arrived on the table, it was a 3.5 kilo crab staring at the four guests.
-No one told us that a whole crab would be prepared for just the four of us. The Japanese tourist explains that some restaurants serve crab in large quantities, adding that there was a lot of food left after the meal.
The restaurant, for its part, claims that it must have been clearly informed that the price was per hundred grams.
– The staff even let guests see the crab before it was cooked, to avoid misunderstandings, says an AsiaOne spokesperson.
Call the police
When it came time to make amends, Shenpa became so angry that she called the police and the Singapore Tourism Office.
– The customer refused to pay the bill and asked to report the matter to the police. The spokesman explained that the restaurant manager helped the woman call the police, who later came to the scene to mediate.
It all ended with the restaurant offering guests a discount of 107 Singapore dollars, which is about 840 Norwegian kroner in Norwegian currency.
In a new statement dated September 20, Seafood Paradise expressed its dissatisfaction with the guests’ allegations, which it believes have contributed to tarnishing the restaurant’s reputation.
