After Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc claimed two top pole positions in a row, the Dutchman returned to pole on Sunday.

The drivers were only able to spend a few minutes in Q3 before the rain started to fall and the lights went out.

Charles Leclerc came in second place, followed by Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso.

– It was a strange qualification, says Leclerc in an interview shown on Viaplay.

Only five teams were represented in the final qualifying round (Q3), all with drivers: Red Bull, Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Aston Martin.

After a lot of trouble recently, Aston Martin drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso have made it to Q3 this time around. They will start in the third and fourth slots in Sunday’s race.

– Top three is a very good result, says Stroll.

-There were some turbulent weekends, so that was good.

Qualifying was a major setback for AlphaTauri after the success they had in Mexico last time out. Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda both crashed in the first section of the race – while the two Haas cars led. In Q2, both Nico Hulkenberg and Kevin Magnussen had to say thank you.
