An NRK series about power struggles in the Labor Party in the 70s has taken Norwegians by storm. In two days, 450,000 Norwegians caught the premiere.

One of the most prominent actors in the series is naturally Gro Harlem Brundtland, former prime minister for several periods in the 80s and 90s.

On Saturday evening Dagsrevyen, he talks about the popular series for the first time. He says that the first two episodes caught him.

– I was relieved because it felt so good and I recognized myself. It’s composed in a slightly different way, but it’s not crazy, he says in a feature on DoxRevion.

“Landsmotheren” stars Kathryn Thorborg Johansson, who received a lot of praise for sounding like Brundtland in the series.

– Not bad. She’s clearly worked on the same voice, and I think it’s done well, Crowe himself says of the casting.

Good friends: Gro Harlem Brundtland and Reiulf Steen were good friends in the 70s. They then end up in a fierce power struggle, and the friendship is never the same.

The first two episodes show how Brundtland becomes part of the government of Trygway Prattalis, eventually becoming the most famous Minister of Environmental Protection.

The series also shows his rapport with the party leader of the day, Raylf Stein. Brundtland was elected vice-president in 1975 – and, as is known, became prime minister for the first time in 1981.
