Bukayo Saka and Kostas Tsimikas had clashed with each other in several duels early in the match, and after half an hour of play it all ended with a real push from the English player.
The Liverpool left-back was unable to stop in time, cutting the ball off Jurgen Klopp who was standing next to the chalk. A few minutes later he was replaced.
Paul Joyce was quick to announce the club's fears of a broken collarbone, an injury that could keep Tsimikas out for at least two months.
Update from Club
At the press conference After the match, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Tsimikas had suffered a broken collarbone.
-He at least broke his collarbone. This is very bad news.
The Liverpool coach was also asked about Luis Diaz. The Colombian caught his knee on the eve of the match and was substituted.
– I hope it's not an injury. He was in pain, from knee to knee. We were about to switch but we had to wait to see if Lucho would leave or not. The physiotherapists weren't too worried, but you never know and we'll be playing in three days. You never know how long things like this will take, so we'll have to see.
With Tsimikas potentially injured long-term, and with Andy Robertson still out, Joe Gomez and Luke Chambers are the obvious options at left-back against Burnley. The former had another good match tonight, so things should be going well, but this certainly wasn't good news.
