Crimea, Frogner | A drone flew over the city when Zelensky was here

The 32-year-old is said to have operated a drone equipped with a surveillance camera from Bygdøy allé on December 13 at 1.20pm, while there were official visits to the city – including that of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The man was one of two foreign nationals arrested within a few hours on charges of illegal drone photography.

The drone pilot spent two days in police custody.

The 32-year-old is accused of violating Article 14-13 of the Aviation Law, after implementing a no-fly and drone ban in a local bylaw regarding flight restrictions on the city center due to a state visit.

The ban was applied to one nautical mile around the center and at an altitude below 3,000 feet.

The 32-year-old was initially fined NOK 12,000 for the legal drone flight, but was given a discount of NOK 2,000 after spending two days in police custody.

He refuses to accept the fine, so he was summoned to the Oslo District Court on February 7 to decide the case there.

The police have warned that they will demand in court the confiscation of the drone, Mavic2, and again claim that the fine will amount to NOK 12,000.
