He died after a violent accident

Spanish motorcyclist Carles Falcon died a week after being involved in a horrific accident in the Dakar Rally.

It was Falcon's TwinTrail Racing team that reported the death, he said Car racing.

The Spaniard was involved in a violent accident in the second stage of this year's Dakar Rally. He was then taken to hospital, and died on Monday from his injuries.

The Falcon participated in the traditional desert rally for the second time in its career. He was just a few kilometers away from completing the second stage from Al Hanakiyah to Dawadmi in Saudi Arabia when he met with an accident.

According to the race organizer, Falcon did not have a pulse when doctors arrived at the scene, but they were able to get his heart working again in the first place.

Falcon was later diagnosed with a fractured spine and five broken ribs, as well as a fractured left wrist and collarbone. At the hospital, doctors have since tried to save Falcon, but a week after the accident there was nothing that could be done.

A Monday statement from TwinTrail Racing said Falcon suffered irreversible neurological damage.

“Carles was a smiling person, always active, who passionately enjoyed everything he did, especially motorbikes. He left us when he did something he had dreamed of, driving the Dakar. He enjoyed his time, and was happy on the bike,” the team further writes.

He added: “We must remember him for his smile and the happiness he instilled in everyone around him.”

Falcon was a computer engineer by training, a motorcycle instructor, and a motorcycle tour guide.
