Police suspect that someone may have walked through the ice.
Emergency services went to Steinsvika in Ytrebygda on Monday evening, where it was reported that a person may have walked through the ice.
After half an hour the search ended.
– Surface divers are out in the area in question. They did not see any unnaturalness beyond where the glacier naturally ends. In addition, the air ambulance flew over the area, says operations manager Bjarte Rebnord.
He says he was alerted by a passer-by around 8.15 pm.
– The passer-by heard a loud crash in the snow, and probably felt a movement there before the crash. The operations manager says that it is dark and the person concerned cannot see properly.
– With what we know now, we assume the reporter heard a thunderclap for natural reasons. But he says it's good to report when people notice something unusual.
The police, health department and fire department went quickly. Air Ambulance is the same.
– We have sent divers from the Sandviken station and rescue personnel from the Fana fire station, said Jostin Steinsland-Haj, the task commander at 110 Central, as the search was underway.
