The six nuns were on a bus on their way to work when they were kidnapped.
About a week ago, gunmen hijacked a bus and detained everyone on board in the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince, Reuters reported.

“This painful event once again challenged our faith, but it remains unbreakable,” says Archbishop Max Leroy Messidor in a statement.

Last week, a doctor and a judge were kidnapped before being released for ransom.
Pope Francis on Sunday asked for the hostages to be released, saying he was praying for an end to the violence in Haiti.
The United Nations estimates that more than 4,700 people were killed on the Caribbean island last year, Reuters wrote.
