Alexander's mother Aamodt Kilde is now speaking out about the horrific accident her son Alexander suffered in the Alps in Wengen a few weeks ago. She thanks Mikaela Shiffrin's family.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Kristin Aamodt Kilde wrote that the incident was a harsh reminder of the risks involved with her son's choice of sport.

“Seeing Alexander crash into the safety net in Wengen while mum and dad was making me angry,” says the text, accompanied by a number of photos from the time that has passed since the broadcast.

“Even if you are mentally prepared for such moments, the facts hit you hard,” the Alpine mother continues.

There, the 31-year-old revealed he spent seven weeks in a wheelchair.
