Liverpool won the League Cup on Sunday. Captain Virgil van Dijk was on the field for 120 minutes and scored the winning goal just before the end. He started Wednesday night, but was rested after the break. Konate came and the same security was behind him. Thus, youngsters can really play forward.

On top of that, Klopp brought on Trey Nyonyi for Harvey Elliott after 78 minutes. Nyonyi is only 16 years old. Elliott played 120 minutes in the League Cup final and is pleased they were able to reset things before this game.

“We could have easily gotten carried away after winning there,” Elliott tells ITV.

He is ready for the quarter-final match against Manchester United.

– Another tough match. Battles never take a break. It's going to be tough, especially far away. But we don't think about that now. “We have another tough game this weekend,” Elliott says.

Liverpool faces Nottingham Forest away from home on Saturday.

Liverpool coach Klopp is known for his wide, white smile, but at Anfield after the youngsters performed above and beyond what was allowed, he smiled almost with a “gull smile”.
