Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United | The United star's behavior has been butchered – and now he's responding

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has had to endure harsh criticism for his body language on the pitch – especially in adversity.

The Portuguese can often be seen gesticulating with his arms, appearing to be displeased with his teammates on some occasions.

– Intense players are difficult to understand

Regarding the national team's ongoing meeting with Portugal, Fernandes defended his body language on the field.

– A person who demands too much is often seen as someone with a bad temper. It's about how we experience the game and how strong we are. Fernandez adds that intense players are difficult to understand Paula.

The United star is clearly open to taking constructive criticism from his teammates about the way he communicates.

-I find that some people don't like some of the things I do. But in all the dressing rooms I make it clear that those who are not comfortable with the way I act should let me know and I will do it differently.

– I've never had a confrontation where someone said, “Don't talk to me like that.” “I don't think much about it,” Fernandez says.

He believes that clear body language is important, because it is difficult to communicate only with words on the field.

– Usually we have to use our arms more and make gestures. We are too far apart to understand the messages we want to convey to each other.

Monetary experts

Fernandez received heavy criticism during the season. Daily Mail columnist Oliver Holt is among those hit hardest.

– There are rumors that referees in England call him the “King of the Whining” in the English Premier League. He has no good intentions among them, no one likes him, and no one respects him. He is the opposite of what a club front man should be, as Holt wrote earlier this year.

Norwegian experts were also critical.

-I hope he just focuses on playing football. He's clearly their best footballer, Simen Stamsø Müller told Nettavisen in December.

Meanwhile, Viaplay commentator Andreas Tofte said the following:

– I won't say anything about his situation in the locker room, I don't know anything about that, but his body language outside the field is not the best. He seems negative and you get the feeling that he doesn't want to go to war for the team. He wants to win so badly, but struggles to handle it.
