England manager Gareth Southgate has barely been mentioned in relation to the Manchester United job in the past, but in recent days there has been a lot of writing on the subject.
The fact that it all stems from a report from the usually untrustworthy Daily Star doesn't seem to bother the English press too much – and Southgate's Manchester United link now fits perfectly into a national team spell where they could finally convince Southgate to sign up too.
