The past few months have been difficult for the British royal family, to say the least. In February, news came that King Charles (75 years old) had cancer – and last week the same news came about Princess Kate (42 years old).
In the middle of all this, King Charles arrives on Thursday morning bringing Easter greetings to the people. Reports Sky News.
Explains absence
The king, who is currently undergoing cancer treatment, expressed his “deep sadness” at not being able to attend the Royal Covenant Mass held in England on Maundy Thursday.
– Mundy’s service holds a very special place in my heart, he says at the beginning, and continues:
-Jesus set an example of how to serve and care for one another – and how as a nation we need and benefit greatly from those who extend a hand of friendship to us, especially at a time when we need it.
After the noise: I look for people
The 75-year-old, who took the throne after the death of Queen Elizabeth, also highlights the promise he made during the coronation ceremony, which was to follow the example of Christ.
My special prayer today is that our Lord's example of serving one another will continue to inspire and strengthen all of our communities.
