News, Flex | Full call to Flesland: Aircraft reported brake problems

HRS Southern Norway's rescue manager, Vincent Roos, tells BA that a propeller plane from Widerøe has reported brake problems.

– It was an aircraft with hydraulic problems that had been prepared for a “high speed landing”. In practice, that means they've lost braking power, Roos initially told PA.

The flight landed, operations manager confirmed at Øystein Skaar, Flesland.

– I can confirm that we had an emergency and the plane landed, he tells PA.

Widerøe: – A “mayday” is announced

– We received information from Bergen Airport that there may be a problem with the landing of the plane, says Shahruz Lahouti.

He is the duty commander at the 110 center and says they have left with personnel from four stations.

– We are evacuating according to the procedures we have for such incidents, duty commander Lahouti said shortly after receiving the call.

The aircraft was en route to Kristiansand, and the main rescue center was notified of the problems at 1505.

Roos says it's not an urgent message, but according to Widerøe, a “mayday” has been announced.

– On the way to Kristiansand the plane had technical problems and had to return to Flesland. I know a “mayday” was announced, so all emergency vehicles were on site when the plane landed, says Katharina Solli, Widerøe's communications manager.

She informs BA that the landing was safe.

Big call

At 1520, BA received a tip that several emergency services were en route to the airport.
