The northern lights are alarming in many parts of the country

The best conditions for viewing the Northern Lights are when the sky is dark and clear without clouds. Even with lots of clouds, there may still be holes in the cloud cover where the Northern Lights can be seen:

The KP index indicates the likelihood of seeing the Northern Lights. P-index 0 means low activity, KP-index 9 means high activity. So the higher the number, the more likely you are to see the Northern Lights.

Notes: Remember that light pollution affects conditions. That's why it's a good idea to get out of areas where as few street lights and other light sources can disturb you as possible.

Find a dark place
