A terrible accident in Trondheim after a police chase

Motorcyclist dies in Trondheim

At 12.45 it was the police in Trøndelag who reported the accident. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

– Due to the motorcyclist's traffic behavior, the police became aware of the driver prior to the accident. Therefore, the Police Operations Bureau is routinely informed about the incident and it is the responsibility of the Bureau to assess the course of the accident, according to a police press release.

In a press release, the bureau writes that they were notified by the Trøndelag Police District that they were following a motorcyclist in Trondheim.

– The bureau writes that the motorcyclist then left the road shortly after and was pronounced dead on the spot by medical personnel a short time later.

They note that when a person dies or is seriously injured in a traffic accident related to official police activities, the bureau initiates an investigation.

– Such investigation shall take place even if there is no reason to suspect that a criminal offense has been committed. The purpose of the investigation is to shed light on whether any criminal activity was committed in connection with the motorcycle pursuit and the specific circumstances of the police's duty, the bureau wrote.
