Erik Jensen (66) will appear for sentencing on June 1, the ex-policeman's lawyer confirmed to Dagbladet.

In 2020, Erik Jensen was sentenced to 21 years in prison.

Jensen was released from prison on March 13 last year due to ill health. His sentence was called suspension.

– We have appealed against the decision which we believe to be wrong. Despite the nation's leading experts determining that Jensen is ineligible to serve time, the Department of Corrections has decided that he should return to prison. This is incomprehensible, says Farid Bouras, lawyer at advocate firm Elton Daily newspaper.

Jensen has always maintained that he was innocently convicted.

The ex-cop's attorney believes Jensen must now serve a sentence in harm's way.

– Based on Jensen's serious condition and the unanimous recommendations of more than six experts and therapists supporting a permanent suspension, Bouras says, it is clear that further punishment is not only undesirable, but directly harmful.

He confirmed to the newspaper that he had requested a suspension of correctional service. Jensen will not appear for sentencing until the case is remanded.

– Jensen has taken this decision very seriously for the correctional service, says Farid Bouras.
