Alexander Sorloth (28 years old) was sidelined with an injury in the final round of the series. And now he is likely to lose the two special international matches against Kosovo and Denmark.

The striker had to leave after just 17 minutes in Villarreal's final series match against Osasuna. Thus, the dream of becoming the top scorer in the Spanish League was shattered.

According to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo It's a hamstring injury – and they state the Norwegian won't be fit to play against Kosovo next Wednesday.

-We are ready for that. Such an injury usually lasts a few weeks. Our doctor and physiotherapists are in control of this matter, wrote national team director Stahl Solbakken in an SMS to VG.

He also stated that a potential replacement is ready.

Sorloth finished La Liga with 23 goals. He thus ended up one goal behind Girona striker Artem Dovbek, who scored a hat-trick at the end of the series.

– We're sorry. Villarreal coach Marcelino said after the match that he deserves to be the team's top scorer.

He confirms that Sorloth did not take a penalty kick for Villarreal, unlike Dovbeck.

– He was hit by his first shot in the match. He didn't deserve it, but football is unpredictable like that. We are very happy with him. “We wanted to help him – and he knew that – and even if he ends up one goal down, he should be proud,” Marcelino said.
