After the ambush party, the punishment becomes more severe – two years and six months in prison for two

The defendants were sentenced to two years and six months in prison, including recklessly causing public danger.

They are punished for negligently causing substantial damage to body and health, and for violating the Fire and Explosion Protection Act, according to the Borgarding Court of Appeal's ruling.

As a result, the sentence of imprisonment has been increased by one year from the judgment of the district court.

Convicted were two men in their 20s, both found to be organizers of the party. Two youths suffered brain damage after inhaling diesel fumes at an illegal cave party.

One man's lawyer, Marit Lomundel Seter, says VG says he hasn't read the entire judgment.

– All I can say is a disappointing result for now. He wrote in a text message that we will fully review the ruling and assess whether to appeal to the Supreme Court.

Ida Andenæs Mehren, the defense lawyer for the other convicted person, writes in a message to VG that they will go through the verdict in its entirety to decide what to do next.

One of the convicts told the district court in 2022 that it was a tragic incident.

– It's incredibly awkward and sad that what should have been a great party ended here. That shouldn't happen, said one of the two accused in 2022.

– I am ashamed to have participated and contributed to that party here, the other told the court.
