Levanger now gets its own tank factory.
An agreement between the German supplier and Ritek in Levanger opens up a separate production line for Leopard 2 tanks.
The agreement will be signed in Oslo on Tuesday morning.
– 37 of the 54 new Leopard 2 tanks ordered by Norway from Germany will be assembled at Ritek in Levanger. This could be the start of a new Norwegian industrial adventure, says Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram (Sp).
Large orders for new tanks from several countries for the Leopard manufacturer in Germany now open the possibility for a new industrial chapter in Trøndelag. Supplier Krauss-Maffei Wegmann needs new production lines.
A new product line is now being set up at Levanger.
– It will be exciting. We will start production in 2026, with deliveries starting in 2028, Morton Minzas tells VG. He is Head of Sales and Marketing at Ritech.

The production line is planned to be maintained after the completion of the Norwegian wagons so that Ritek can continue to produce tanks and wagons for other countries.
The Levanger company is now in the midst of a major delivery to Swedish Defense:
– We are now producing 44 CV90 tanks for Sweden. So we hope to be able to continue producing both CV90 and Leopard tanks at Levanger in the future, says Minzas.
Ritek now has more than 50 employees. Minsaas recommends that they increase their production capacity by 50 percent to start a production line for tanks at the old military camp in Rinnleiret.
