On May 21 last year, 25-year-old Matthias Stormbo McDonald was fatally injured on the stairs at Thorvald Meyers Gate in Grunerloka, Oslo.

Life-saving first aid was administered, but McDonald was pronounced dead at the scene.

Now McDonald's girlfriend – a 39-year-old woman – has been charged with his murder.

– He denies criminal responsibility for the relationship and is looking forward to the case going to court, his defense attorney Ole Peter Trevland tells Talkbladet.

“He died shortly after,” the chargesheet said.

– For the next of kin, murder is a big strain. Legal aid lawyer Olav Ramel Holland tells Dogbladet that they believe the defendant can be held responsible for the killer stabbing and that it would be a fair punishment.

Two weeks have been set aside for the trial against the woman, which will begin on August 21 at the Oslo District Court.

– The Attorney General has ordered the charge sheet. This was taken because we assessed the conditions for criminal responsibility for murder, and we consider that it can be proven in court, public prosecutor Johan Moldestad tells Dagbladet.
